Unfortunately there's not much need for castle guides or helpers in winter, apparently there's just not enough tourists and a lot of the castles are closed. Pity because they look even more beautiful in winter. For anyone else who's interested in castles in Germany, there's the Deutsche Burgenvereinigung located in the Marksburg castle and the Europäisches Burgeninstitut which is dedicated to the research of German castles in particular. Both are located on the Rhine and more info can be found through the Marksburg site www.marksburg.de and at www.deutsche-burgen.org. Both are very helpful organisations.Lili Does anyone know of any current opportunities to work in/around German castles/ruins/heritage sites - tour guiding, conservation, dusting armour... Peter Lili,
I think the answer to your question is much like the one we had for U.K. castles a short time ago.
Most jobs of that nature are advertised in local papers. So unless it is picked up quickley the job will be gone in a jiff.Lili Thanks Peter,
I must have missed that post about UK castles as I haven't visited 'castles-on-the-web' for a while. It's good to visit again!! You all do a great job! ipflo I think that, if you really want to work in or around a German Castle or Palace, you just should make contact with the owners of the castles themselves and ask them, you can always try with an open sollicitation. I think that are always eager for volunteers who want to guide tourists/ visitors around the castle. Some of the 'bigger' owners of German castles are the German States. You can find info about these owners on:
And ofcourse there are private castle owners and smaller public owners. Lili Thanks ipflo,
